Sagnik is presently undergoing rigorous taalim in the Patiala Gharana style of Khayal under Shri Brajeswar Mukherjee, disciple of Pt. Ajoy Chakrabarty. The Patiala Gayaki is renowned for its fluid and intricate taans, rich melodic improvisations, vocal agility, and expressive treatment of ragas, demanding both technical brilliance and emotional depth. Alongside this, he is receiving training in Purab Ang Thumri under Vidushi Dalia Rahut, disciple of the legendary Girija Devi. The Purab Ang or Banaras Gayaki tradition of Thumri is celebrated for its lyrical expression, emotional subtlety, and delicate treatment of poetry and melody, emphasizing the aesthetic nuances of bhaav and abhinaya within music.
