BIO-DATA: Sagnik Sen is a promising young Hindustani classical vocalist with a growing presence in both classical and semi-classical music traditions. He has performed at several reputed music festivals and prestigious concert platforms, including the West Bengal Academy Music Festivals, Dover Lane Youth Music Festival, Thuriyam Festival (Kerala), Tala Prottoy, and various esteemed venues, sharing the stage with renowned maestros including Pt. Tanmoy Bose. Sagnik is also an active member of Taaltantra, the world music ensemble founded and directed by Pt. Tanmoy Bose.

Recognized for his musical excellence from an early stage, Sagnik has received several awards and distinctions. He is a National Scholarship holder and an NCPA Scholar and was also the recipient of the Telegraph Award (2020). He secured 1st position in Thumri at the Dover Lane Music Competition and achieved 2nd position in both Khayal and Thumri at the West Bengal State Music Competition.

Sagnik is presently undergoing rigorous taalim in the Patiala Gharana style of Khayal under Shri Brajeswar Mukherjee, disciple of Pt. Ajoy Chakrabarty. The Patiala Gayaki is renowned for its fluid and intricate taans, rich melodic improvisations, vocal agility, and expressive treatment of ragas, demanding both technical brilliance and emotional depth. Alongside this, he is receiving training in Purab Ang Thumri under Vidushi Dalia Rahut, disciple of the legendary Girija Devi. The Purab Ang or Banaras Gayaki tradition of Thumri is celebrated for its lyrical expression, emotional subtlety, and delicate treatment of poetry and melody, emphasizing the aesthetic nuances of bhaav and abhinaya within music.

He is further guided and mentored by Pt. Tanmoy Bose, whose artistic vision continues to shape his musical journey. Earlier in his formative years, Sagnik received training under Shri Navodeep Chakraborty and Smt. Tripti Sen, which laid the foundation for his continuing musical development.
